Karen Bright - Revive Treatment Center

One Year Ago . . . .

On Friday March 16th,  2018, at 24 weeks pregnant with twins, our friend Karen Bright was blindsided with a medical complication. By the time she reached the hospital she was not breathing and was very unresponsive. Heaven received two beautiful souls that day as sadly her twins did not make it.  Karen was not expected to make it through the night, but she did! She was fighting for her life and spent 10 days in a coma. With a superb medical team, TONS & TONS of answered prayers and Karen's strong will to survive,  she slowly awoke from the coma and started her long journey to recovery.

Karen survived what most would consider a nightmare.  With numerous doctor appointments, physical therapy and round the clock support, she has strengthened her mind and body far beyond what most would be willing to do. However, because of the series of strokes that occurred in her brain that night, Karen has not regained her vision.

Fast Forward One Year . . . .

Karen has managed a new life without full vision, but she is not willing to give up. She adores her new friend "Alexa" who has been a blessing. 'Alexa, play soothing music." or "Alexa, turn on a yoga video." Her daily routine of helping Rachel get off to school in the morning has been challenging but she has found new ways to overcome her limited vision allowing her to be the mom and wife she knows she is. Karen has not been able to return to work due to her vision.

The Next Steps . . .

#WillSeeWontStop - Karen spends her entire day with "Alexa".  Alexa provides pod cast, today's news, the time, and brain training exercises such as trivia. In Karen's persistent search of pod cast, she stumbled upon Adventures in Brain Injury. This is when Karen learned more about Revive Treatment Centers of America . Check out their website, their technology is simply cutting edge. https://revivecenters.com/

Revive is a leading neurological recovery center that focuses on the unique neurological and biochemical factors, to help identify the underlying cause of a patients condition . . . for Karen, blindness.  As of today, Karen describes her eye sight like watching a TV channel with poor reception often looking like a snowy screen (she is able to see color).  Her peripheral eye sight has shown more progress overall (so stand on the left or right for your best silhouette shot from Karen's view).

Acceptance!!

After review, Karen was accepted into the treatment center, off to Denver, Colorado she goes. Karen's commitment to this program will be 10 days. Because her husband is AMAZING, Darrel will be joining Karen, encouraging and pushing her through this journey. The next step is where the Bright Family could truly use your help.  Most of her treatments through the Revive center will not be covered through insurance. If you are able to give, we are asking that you do so to assist with the treatments. No need to worry about Rachel, she will be home with her grandparents soaking up all their attention and love.

In addition to this Go Fund Me page there will also be a Fundraiser for Karen. All processed will go towards Karen's treatments at Revive. Come out and join in the fun! The event will be held a few days before Karen leaves for Denver. Come share your love and wish her off well, she is extremely nervous yet so full of hope.
