Receiving a cancer diagnosis is nothing you ever plan for and the financial impact of a cancer diagnosis can be devastating. Karen Bahr was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in December of 2022 and underwent extensive life-altering surgery to save her life and rid her of cancer in February. Karen is self-employed and is not able to work for 8 weeks and likely will not be able to return to the work she did before her diagnosis. To add stress to the situation, her vehicle broke a week before her surgery and it is unable to be repaired without extensive financial investment. Karen is a giving person with a huge heart and she never imagined herself needing to ask others for help; it is incredibly humbling.
