Update: I want to thank everyone for their support of the Anderson Family. They are humbled by the generosity of everyone around them, those who are helping out in person and financially. As a result of everyone's giving, Keahi and the rest of the family has had a huge burden taken from their shoulders and are able to have the assistance necessary to take care of Karen and get the rest they need.
Since the goal has been far surpassed I am preparing to end this funding site but wanted to allow a few more days in case anyone else wanted to contribute. As of Friday at 7pm it will be closed down.
As many of you know, Karen has been fighting cancer for the past six years, and her life recently took a difficult turn. She is now on hospice and requires full-time care. Many friends and family members have volunteered to help, but right now she needs trained professional assistance as well. This costs about $700 per day, which is not covered by insurance.
So many people have asked how they can help, so we decided to start a GoFundMe page to streamline support to the family. This will also help alleviate stress on Keahi, who has been trying to balance all the offers of help and still get through normal activities of the day. Obviously, Keahi is concerned with accepting money from anyone, and wants to make sure the money is used appropriately.
We do not know how long the nursing care will be needed, or how much volunteer effort will reduce the nursing need, but $15,000 seemed to be a suitable goal. Any excess funds not used for the nursing care will be put into a college savings accounts for their two children.
Many of us have been the recipient of Karen’s love and friendship over the years, and this is our opportunity to return some of that love to her family in a tangible way. If you feel you are being led to offer support to the Anderson family in this time of need it would be greatly appreciated. Please share this GoFundMe page with other friends who know and love this wonderful family.
To God be the glory!
