I asked myself this question one morning, “Karees, what makes you jump out of bed with joy every morning, gives you butterflies, and you would do it for free just out of pure passion? My answer was MUSIC! ...But I need YOUR help!
My Inspiration / Life Challenges
Shortly after giving birth to my son Carter, I was diagnosed with an illness called Grave’s Disease. Only my close friends and family know about this battle. This past year I've quit both of my jobs and transferred the weight of a business I own to my family, so I can focus on my health. I REFUSE to own this and let it affect my dreams. It gets better each and every day, and what helps me the most is music. When I sing and write songs, I feel no pain, no agony. MUSIC IS MY MEDICINE. I know that my current state of health is temporary and I WILL be 100% healed. There is just a story that needs to be told from my experiences, and my story is going to inspire someone else one day. I share my story through songs.
My Project
Since I'm not working as much, I decided to use this downtime to make a music project. This project is about life. My musical goal is to create inspirational music that speaks to a wide audience. I realize there is a void amongst mankind that needs to be filled, and I hope my music fills even just a tiny part. At times, more than not, this world can be a screwed up place, and all of us have had some screwed up situations. There's SO MUCH music today that is over-sexualized and inundated with meaningless lyrics, but there are not enough positive role models with platforms that our children can look up to. I hope to be that inspiration and breath of fresh air to people, to give their minds and hearts a break from all the negativity. I want use my setbacks to show people that if I'm and overcomer, you can be one too!
What I've Done So Far...
So far, I've been in the studio and have recorded several songs, made a few videos, and completed a professional photo shoot to get my website started. This has already cost me over $20, 000! There were production fees, recording fees, photography fees, cinematography fees, traveling expenses, webhosting, etc.

Once I have the final project mixed and mastered, I plan to work extremely hard to garner attention from music industry professionals to help me reach a broader audience. I plan on putting together a band and going on the road to perform my music live. But first thing's first...
RECORDING AN ALBUM AND FUNDING A BAND IS EXPENSIVE!!!
The Budget
God, gave me this voice, so I want to give my best to this project and continue to make high quality recordings that will sound awesome, because you deserve the best!
The $22,000 that I am asking for is the bare minimum I need to finish recording the album, have it manufactured, and start performing.
GOFUNDME takes 5% from each donation that I receive, and there's an additional 3% in credit card processing fees. For every $10,000 raised, roughly $800 will go towards processing fees.
Your kind donations will go towards paying for studio time, hiring studio musicians, the producer, the engineer, the mixing, the mastering, the graphic designers, the cd manufacturing. That’s just the beginning. Next comes hiring promoters, publicists, videographers, paying for rehearsal space, hiring musicians to develop a band, and the list goes on and on!
Here is a breakdown of what some of the costs look like:
Studio Time for Basic Tracking - $450 day rate
Mixing Records - $250+ per song
Mastering the Record -$2200+
Digital Distribution - $20 per month + commission
Production - $1500 per song
Photo Shoots - $400+ per session
Rehearsal space - $25 / hr
Videography - $1500+ per video plus editing
In Closing
This is a dream that I have worked so hard for. I do this for GOD, for my son, and for you guys. I want to leave behind a legacy for my son so that he knows Mommy worked hard and fought for what she believed in. Even though the doctors says she is sick, she believed God's report. I realize this music project is just a platform for me to be used by God and I will help others by telling my story through my music...And I need YOUR help to do it!
If there are ANY leftovers, I PROMISE it will go towards continued publicity for the album, expansion of a traveling road show, hiring staff to grow my brand, and much much more. I dream of starting a performing arts school for underprivleged children. I dream of going to group homes to steal kids for a couple of hours, take them out to lunch and encourage them of their dreams! I hope to create a platform to help, serve, and educate people. I WILL do this with all that God gives me though you, because this gift is mines to share.
I am ALSO going to use my platform to bring awareness about thyroid disease and adrenal disorders. I want to fund research and organizations that support people with these kinds of illnesses!
