My name is Kareem - and I believe in new beginnings.

I'm used to being the helper and this is a request that I never imagined making. Allowing people to help me make this video, marks a new beginning for me. I used to think that getting sober would solve all my problems, but I was wrong. I've lost friends from alcoholism, isolated myself due to homelessness, and continue to be challenged by circumstances that I never thought would come my way.

I love God - He loves me too - and I just want to do His will. I'm a fighter and many people are counting on me to become an Addictions Counselor. But, as they say, I've gotta 'take care of home' first.

I've been offered the chance to take part in a powerful healing experience - something designed to help people reconnect with who they truly are and unlock the purpose thy've been carrying inside them all along. It's not therapy or treatment, but it's a space for deep, self-reflection, truth-telling, and growth in all directions - mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I believe this is a tool God is placing in my path to help me heal from the inside out.

If there's anyone out there that can find it in their heart to help me get there, I'm gonna live the rest of my life helping others that look like me and that face the same kind of problems that I'm dealing with now.
