Kara and Jessep were in an automobile accident on March 25, 2020. Kara suffered a concussion, fractured ankle, and carotid dissection. Kara had surgery on her ankle and will need months of physical therapy to fully recover.
Jessep sustained a spinal cord injury and was in pediatric intensive care at MUSC for 5 days before passing away. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we are not able to hold a funeral at this time. We may hold his memorial in June around his birthday. However, nothing has been decided at this time.
Funds raised by this campaign will be used to cover medical expenses incurred by Kara after her automobile accident. This includes the ambulance ride, emergency room, stay in ICU, and surgery. It will also be used to pay for the physical therapy she will need after her cast is removed.
Further, funds will be used to pay for items needed for Jessep’s memorial. The date and details have not been set at this time due to the COVID pandemic.
