Kidney Fund for Kara

Donation protected
For those who may not know us, this is me and my fiancée Kara and as it turns out she needs a new kidney.

Back when Kara was in college she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called Wegener's Granulomatosis which took quite a toll on her body and especially her kidneys. She went into remission and the doctors told her that her kidney function was low but they didn’t think that she needed any transplant for quite some time if at all.

Last year a week before we were to go on a cruise in which I was planning on proposing she was admitted to the Hospital for extremely high blood pressure, over 200, which was giving her blurry vision. After a week of tests and the run around of what was actually going on the Doctors tell us that her kidneys are failing, 2-3% activity, and that she needs to be put on dialysis and needs a transplant.

We were of course devastated by the news, but didn’t let it discourage us from living our lives. I still was able to propose even if it wasn’t the way I originally planned and we have spent the last few months planning the wedding.

Just this past week I did the cross-match and it turns out I’m a perfect match. Now I have to go through the testing to see how healthy my kidneys really are. Hopefully if everything goes to plan we can have the surgery by Christmas.

I’m just overfilled with joy knowing I can do something truly meaningful in life and save the woman I love.

Now for the hard part, neither Kara nor myself like asking people we know for money let alone complete strangers but unfortunately it has come to that.

The money that we raise will help pay off current medical bills that have built up, any extra costs from the surgery that insurance doesn’t cover, lost wages for the time after surgery, and all the medication afterwards. The Doctors have suggested we try to raise at least $10,000 because of all the expenses along with travel.

Any little bit you can donate will be a great help towards our overall goal and is greatly appreciated.

Please help and thank you.

I just can’t wait to see the joy on Kara’s face when they finally remove the dialysis and she knows the nightmare is over.
