Karaoke Rage (Short Film)

Hi! My name is Jennifer Rose Garcia and I am raising funds to produce my VERY FIRST short film! Yay!

  • KARAOKE RAGE: a fun, horror comedy about a Christmas Eve party in a Filipino household that goes wrong when the beloved Karaoke Machine gets in the hands of a controlling and unstable host.

The goal is to raise $5000 for this project by the end of October 2025. The funding will help with equipment rentals, insurance, kit fees and of course food to feed our cast and crew! All those who donate will receive a special thank you shout out in the end credits!

UNITING FILIPINO CREATIVES

As this is my first time venturing through this process as a writer, director, producer and actor on the film, my goal is to gather as many Filipino creatives to get together help me tell this fun story!

Set to lead our story as a main kuya figure is the amazingly talented, LOU TICZON (Smoke, Two Sentence Horror Stories, Arrow, Time Helmet) supported by myself JENNIFER ROSE GARCIA (Blood, A Million Little Things, Resident Alien).

INSPIRATION

This short film is loosely based on a true story of my family parties back home in Winnipeg Manitoba where we would party all night and Karaoke even harder -- but unlike at home, this story may end a little bloody.

Inspired by the likes of other horror comedy creatives making films like Get Out, Parasite, The Monkey, Weapons, etc. my goal is to execute a horror film that is also comedic, relatable with a clear message.

  • Karaoke continues to be a staple in our family home!

  • My cute little famjam on Christmas, with Little J and her big dreams of making movies and somehow involving her favourite holiday (Christmas of course)!

I want to make this short film for the Filipino community back home, specifically my Ohana Crew, that cheered me on as I ventured to work in film as an actor in Manitoba and BC. I also would like to make in this film in dedication to my 14-year old self; for Little J, the all-black wearing "emo" girl who wrote short horror stories for English class to make her teacher squeamish, and watched scary movies with her older brother for the love and thrill. Here's to bringing together the Filipino community through some good ol' horror comedy! Any amount of contribution is welcome -- thank you so much! :)

  • Little J thanks you in advance!
