On November 1st, 2016 we offered a forever home to this stray kitten (Karamel) and his mom (Momma Jynx). At that time Karamel was roughly 2-4 weeks old which meant he spent most of his day doing what kittens do best when they are that young; sleep and look for momma when they get hungry. It was about two weeks ago when Karamel started becoming more active when we noticed he had some discharge throughout his right eye, thinking it was normal we just let it be. As days passed by we saw it wasn't getting better but in fact starting to worsen, it was now swollen with some kind of cloudy layer covering the eyeball. After calling different animal clinics, we got her checked out on 12/2/2016 to find out that eye is completely dysfunctional and must be surgically removed as soon as possible. Because they were homeless the main cause of this is unknown but some reasons for it might have been severe head trauma or her eye got bacteria while it was still closed. If the eyeball doesn't get removed it can cause immense pressure along with a series of painful headaches that will be too much for this fragile kitty to handle. Since he's very young still (approximately 6-8 weeks old) the surgery will cost $400 but the longer we wait and older she gets means surgery time would extend and price would increase.
