Support “Woven Forward” — A Filipino Fashion + Portrait Project

Hi everyone, my name is Vion Tam, a Filipino-American portrait photographer based in Dayton, Ohio. I’m working on a passion project called Woven Forward—a creative collaboration that reimagines traditional Filipino attire like the Barong Tagalog and Filipiniana through a bold, modern lens.

This project is built on the spirit of Kapwa—our deep sense of shared identity and community. It’s not just a photo series; it’s a celebration of Filipino culture, creativity, and collective storytelling.

What is Woven Forward?

Woven Forward blends heritage with fashion-forward expression. We’re taking traditional garments and styling them with streetwear, editorial fashion, and bold aesthetics—honoring where we came from while showcasing who we are today.

This collaborative project features Filipino models, stylists, designers, and artists across Ohio—coming together to create a visual statement rooted in culture, identity, and pride.

Our work will culminate in a gallery show in October 2026, open to the public, and supported by a digital gallery so the work can reach beyond our local community.

How Your Support Helps

While I’m personally covering as much as I can, your support can take this project to the next level. Your donation will help fund:

• Gallery rental for the November exhibit

• Printing and framing of featured photos

• Outfits and styling accessories

• Travel costs for creatives from Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland

• Hospitality during shoot days and the gallery opening

This is a collaboration/trade-for-time project, meaning all creatives are volunteering their time and talent. Every dollar goes directly toward production and presentation.
