Hello, everyone. I’ve started a GoFundMe to support my friend Kapil Gauli, who was my trekking guide in Nepal in 2018. His kindness and humor made my trip unforgettable, and we continue to stay in touch regularly. Today, I’m asking for your support to help him through a challenging time. Now, Kapil is facing hardship due to recent changes in Nepal and needs our support for his family's basic needs and stability.

As you may know, Nepal is in the midst of a revolution led by Gen Z. They’ve ousted their former prime minister and elected former Supreme Court Justice Sushila Karki. On September 23, Prime Minister Karki dissolved the parliament and announced new elections on March 5.

This is a major step for Nepal’s young people and all Nepalese seeking equality and democracy. But revolutions have costs, and the most vulnerable always pay the highest cost.

For Kapil, his bank collapsed, and he lost his entire life savings. As a Himalaya guide, Kapil was able to save $30,000 through his hard work and sacrifice for his wife, mother-in-law, and two children. As you can imagine, this terrible blow has tested his faith and place as a provider for his family.

I'm asking you to please give whatever you can. If nothing else, please repost this to your social media accounts. I want Kapil to recoup his financial losses, but I also want to remind him that the world is a kind, loving place. I want him to have the happiness he so freely and naturally gives anyone that he takes through those breathtaking mountains.
