Kapa'a Pop Warner Storage Destroyed by Fire
Donation protected
On the morning of May 31st, 2023, we at Kapa'a Pop Warner Association received the devastating news that our storage shed caught fire. All of the contents of the storage shed are a complete and total loss. The fire destroyed all tackle and flag equipment including helmets, shoulder pads, practice uniforms, game uniforms, practice dummies, practice sleds, flag equipment, balls, medical kits, cheerleading uniforms, cheerleading mats and apparatus', safety gear, and much more.
The items the fire destroyed affect more than just a tangible loss. This tragedy took away many years, countless hours, and immeasurable efforts, all of our Volunteer staff members, Parents, Keiki, and all Pop Warner 'Ohana contributed to the combined purpose of providing a safe and purposeful avenue to enjoy youth football and cheer. KPWA is home to over 100 youth Tackle Football, Flag Football, and Cheerleading members, and their 'Ohana.
What this devastation has not robbed us of, is our will to continue to provide many more successful Football and Cheer Sesons for our Keiki. Kapa'a Pop Warner Association is built on an impenetrable foundation. We take pride in our strength in our community and 'Ohana and recognize the importance of what this Association stands for.
Many of you were brought here because someone may have shared this story with you, you may have seen this post on social media or the news, have been sent this link, or may have just stumbled upon it by chance. However you were brought here, we are here together. Although it is an unfortunate event, let it not be in despair. We hope this story prompted you to a fond memory you may have had as a former youth sports participant, whether in Pop Warner or otherwise, as a previous volunteer, or as a past extended 'Ohana, and allowed you to remember the joy youth sports brought you. We encourage you to continue to be a part of our Association and Kokua by sharing our story.
Mahalo to all of you, for your donations, prayers, words of support, and continued reinforcement of collective goodwill. All funds generated will go directly to Kapa'a PWA to replace and ship all equipment loss, as well as purchase a temporary storage container and storage supports.
