Hi Everyone. I'm Kaori ishiguro. I'm from Japan.
Now I'm currently studying Contemporary Dance at Royal Conservatory Antwerp's dance course in Antwerp, Belgium and I'm a first year student. I will stay at this school for 3 years to get a BA degree.
But now I am encountering financial difficulties to pay the Fee for this unique study.
I have a mother and an old brother, they already support me, but our family finances is not sufficient.
My mother wishes "Keep going to things that I want to do". For me it is dancing.
Even in order not to put a burden on my mother who is supporting me, this year I covered all the necessary money with my own savings. However, it is difficult to pay tuition for the next year by myself.
Because I need to pay a tuition of €7000 per year, which is for a non EU citizen. I applied for a Japan's scholarship and Flanders' scholarship but without success.
There are many scholarships for Japanese students to get a master degree in other countryes. This dance training however is currently only offering a graduation in a Bachelor, and there are no scholaships for Bachelors. Moreover, there are only few scholarship for dance course. At the scholarship of Flanders I could not apply becouse of Japanese nationality.
The reason why I want to study in Antwerp is that it gives me a place to learn about the world I do not know. I have learned a lot in this year. I am in a class of 15 students in first year, I was selected from about 180 people in the auditions last year.
In our school we are specializing in contemporary dance and we learn about the theoly, techniques, music and culture conected to it. In the class of technique, I was able to learn from professional company dancers and choreographers, and I was able to absorb a lot of things. Also, I learned not only dance techniques but also my own things in art and dance, ties to society, art values in daily life from everyday life and class. There are crucial for me as an artist and a person: I had never been able to experience this in Japan.
I discovered that dancing is a place to find myself.
You can release emotions and purify them. It is a place where you can feel something you can not find on a daily basis, which is an important way to get to know oneself.
Later on this will support when dancing work to touch people watching the work. I understood it because I lived here and I met many people.
Belgium is a very developed country in dance and art, and it is possible to touch a variety of contemporary art different from Japan. I feel that having a mix of multinational culture has a great effect on art as well. I lived in Antwerp and touched on other cultures and also noticed the goodness of Japanese culture. Japan is very special and traditional.
I would like to create a place where other cultures can be experienced while leaving the goodness of Japan intact. And I hope that many Japanese people have a chance to feel contemporary dance and more close.
That is my dream. Now I am blessed with a good environment to learn and experience them in Belgium.
For that reason I would like to continue learning, and I need to funding money.

私は、ベルギーのアントワープにある王立アントワープ芸術学校のダンスコースの1年生で、BA取得の為に３年間この学校に在学したいと考えています。
しかし、今経済的な問題を抱えています。
私の家族は3人家族で母と兄がいます。母は私たちに『自分の好きな事を続けてほしい』と願い、決して経済的に裕福ではない中私にダンスを続けさせてくれました。私の母は全力で今もサポートしてくれていますが、片親のため母からの経済的支援は難しく、この1年は自分の貯金で生活費から学費まで全て自分自身で賄いました。しかし来年度以降の学費を自分で用意するのがとても困難です。私は非EU圏のため1年間の学費が80万円必要になります。
私は日本の奨学金２つ、ベルギーフランダースの奨学金に申込をしましたが、残念ながら取得できませんでした。日本の奨学金は、日本に在籍中の学生や修士号取得する人用の奨学金はたくさんありますが、私の様に、社会にでてから新たに留学する人、学位取得為の留学向けの奨学金はありません。
私のコースでは現在学士号取得のみ提供されています。さらに、ダンスという専門分野の奨学金も片手で数えられるくらいにしかありません。フランダースの奨学金においては私が日本国籍という面で申込が出来ませんでした。
学費が支払えなければ在学証明証がないため、ビザを更新する事が出来ず、ベルギーに滞在もできません。
なぜ私がここアントワープで学びたいかというと、私の知らない世界を学べる環境が整っているからです。私は今年一年間で多くの事を学びました。私たちは1学年15人という少人数のクラスで、昨年3月と5月に行われたオーディションで約180人の中から選ばれました。また日本人は私たちのダンス専攻では私を含めて２人のみです。
私たちの学校では、コンテンポラリーダンスに特化していて、それに必要な教養、ダンステクニック、音楽や文化について学べます。テクニックの授業では、プロのカンパニーのダンサーやコレオグラファーから学ぶ事ができ、たくさんの事を吸収できました。また、ダンスのテクニックだけでなく、アートやダンスにおける自分自身のリサーチ、社会との繋がり、アートへの考え方等を日常の生活やクラスを通して学べました。これは私にとって、とても必要な事で日本ではあまり経験出来なかった事です。
私にとってダンスとは、自分自身を見つける為の一つの場所だという事を見つけました。
感情を解放したり、浄化したりできる。日常では発見できないような事も感じれる場所で、それは、私自身を作るための大切な場所です。
それを理解できたのも、ここに住み、多くの人や物に出会えたからです。
ベルギーはダンスやアートにおいてとても発展している国で、日本とはまた違った多彩なコンテンポラリーアートに触れる事が出来ます。また、私はベルギーに住み、他の文化に触れて日本の文化の良さにも気付きました。日本はとても特殊で伝統的です。
私は日本の良さはそのまま残しつつ、他の文化の面白さも感じれるような場を作りたいと思っています。そして私はもっと日本で多くの人にコンテンポラリーダンス、アートを身近に感じてほしいと思っています。私は今ここで学んでいる事を日本に繋げていきたいし、日本で学んだ事も他国に広げていきたい、そんな架け橋になれたらと思います。
それが私の夢です。今私はベルギーでそれらを学び、経験する為の良い環境に恵まれています。できることならベルギーでの学習を続けたいと願っています。
やれる事は全て手を尽くしました。これが最後の私の手段です。私は自分の夢を叶える為にもこの可能性を信じたいと思います。
