Hi, my name is Kelsie Lane, and I am the granddaughter of David and Linda Eytcheson from Independence, Kansas.
The last few days have been something our family never could have prepared for.
My grandpa, David, began complaining about severe chest pain and difficulty breathing. His oxygen levels were dropping quickly, so we called EMS. They were originally transporting him to Bartlesville, but had to turn around when his respiratory system began shutting down. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, we received the call no family ever wants — he was being life-flighted for emergency care.
While he was in the hospital undergoing tests and fighting to stabilize, just two days later my grandma, Linda, came home from work and began showing signs of a stroke. Her oxygen levels were dropping as well, and we immediately called 911. She was also life-flighted — this time to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Within 48 hours, both of my grandparents were airlifted and are now in separate hospitals.
David and Linda are the kind of people who would give you the shirt off their back. They have spent their entire lives helping others and would never ask for help or handouts themselves. That makes writing this even harder — but right now, they need support.
The cost of two emergency life flights, hospital stays, testing, treatments, and the road to recovery ahead will be overwhelming. Funds raised will go toward medical expenses, monthly bills, travel back and forth between hospitals, food, transportation, and anything else needed while our family focuses on being by their side.
If you are able to donate, we are incredibly grateful. If you cannot, sharing this fundraiser and saying a prayer means just as much.
Thank you for lifting David and Linda up during this unimaginable time.
