Kannon has recently been invited to participate in the NATIONAL Youth Leadership forum (NYLF) Pathways to Stem, in Chicago at Loyola University! It is a 5 -day "camp" essentially that you HAVE TO BE NOMINATED FOR THE OPPORTUNITY! If anyone knows Kannon personally, they know who Mrs. Podgorski is, and her being the guardian angel that she is nominated Kannon for this opportunity! Students receiving this nomination are singled out and selected for their scholastic merit, leadership potential, strength of character, and exceptional maturity. It's incredibly selective, as Kannon would be only the 4th student from his school SINCE 2018 to attend this event. Over the course of this "camp", he will get to practice a medical simulation, build and program a robot, and even learn about detective work and crime scene investigation to solve a crime.
He will get to do really cool stuff in really cool areas that he normally wouldn't get exposure to. :) There are 2 options: 5-day Residential Program (sleeping in the dorms)or a 5-day Day Program, where he would arrive in the morning and leave in the evening. We have accepted the invitation to the Day Camp option, being as how he isn't quite confident in the idea of sleeping in a dorm away from home, and THE PRICE DIFFERENCE. To say I'm a proud Mom is an understatement, so I really, really want to be able to give him this opportunity. I don't want money to be the thing that prevents him from going buuuuut it is a big expense. The Day Program isn't until July 6-10, but the deposit on tuition is due December 4th. The program in its' entirety will cost $2,745. That covers curriculum/activity materials, and lunch everyday. More explanation of the program and all that it entails can be checked out at NYLFPathways.com. It's legit, it's super rad, and I just wanna make it possible.
