Help us help Kane while he fights to come home
Donation protected
Kane is a rescue pup that had a rough start. He was in the hospital at just 6 months old and miraculously recovered but was diagnosed with diabetes at a very young age. I took him on as a foster pup and my husband and I worked around the clock to to stabilize his condition. We decided to keep Kane as our own knowing he would need special care. Kane is now almost 4 and was stable and thriving , however just before arriving home from our vacation he was showing some alarming symptoms that required an immediate vet visit. My friends and my family worked together to care for him while I anxiously sat on the plane and flew home. When I saw his condition we raced him to VMCLI where he remains in critical condition with multiple issues. He must have gotten into something and made himself sick while we were away. The internist at VMCLI is working round the clock to manage not only his glucose levels but his blood pressure and an underlying GI disease that we have yet to find the cause of. We have maxed out our expenses already as veterinary care is phenomenally expensive. If Kane pulls through, at the minimum he requires a week in the hospital. We are still applying for grants and assistance but many companies do not help with diabetic dogs due to such a poor prognosis. Pet insurance companies are not an option. As we exhaust all possible options, we are reaching out for any possible help to keep our boy under the care of specialists as we pray for his recovery. We know it’s a chronic condition but he has had a wonderful 6 years as a happy boy and we know if we get him home healthy we can continue to maintain his condition. Thank you for reading and for any possible help you can give us! Xoxoxo
