Kane's Medical Fund - Ear Canal Removal

Thank you all for taking the time to visit and read about our story. I appreciate all of our friends and family that have reached out about our boy.
This started on Sept 2nd during a bath, which Kane really didn't enjoy. We finished with the bath, and he or course has the after-bath zoomies all over the place. After a moment the next thing I see is blood everywhere.
After two emergency vet visits we had the information that there is a cyst in his left ear that's very inflamed, and ultimately decided to remove the cyst. If we left it we risk consistent rupturing and chronic infection.
We had our appointment with VSH in Raleigh for the procedure to remove the mass, finally! The surgeon called me and we talked about the procedure, everything was ready to go. She called me back 15 minutes later with very different news. This mass was much larger, and deeper, and considerably worse than what the charts described. In fact, even getting the scope in his ear to look at it ruptured the mass again and was very difficult to control the bleeding.
We reviewed the options and we're prepared to move forward with "Total Ear Canal Ablation", removal of the entire ear canal. The procedure includes a CT scan to see how much should be removed. In the meantime he's had bloodwork and X-rays to confirm he is otherwise a very healthy boy that can live a quality life. Our CT scan is scheduled for September 24th, and we've also received a referral for NCSU Veterinary Hospital that we will look into as well.
We're hoping to cover the cost of the procedure and the bills for the visits leading up to this point. I understand this year has been particularly difficult for everyone, I don't know of anybody that isn't dealing with a stressful situation themselves. We will keep the page posted with his progress and any changes there might be along the way.
