Kane’s story

Kane was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma back in July 2022. Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a rare type of Children’s cancer.
As a result of this not a lot of money goes into research for it.
RMS is a cancer that forms in soft tissue — specifically skeletal muscle tissue or sometimes hollow organs such as the bladder or uterus. RMS can occur at any age, but it most often affects children.

Initially, Kane went through 3 cycles of chemotherapy then in December 2022 he beat the odds and survived a major 15-hour operation to remove his tumour. Kane donated the tumour to cancer research to help towards finding a cure for RMS. After this he had a further 6 cycles of intensive chemotherapy his nerve tissues were damaged by the chemotherapy, and this resulted in him not being able to walk. He then went on to have 28 rounds of radiotherapy. As well as physical therapy.

A truly happy day was on 29th June when Kane rang the bell to symbolise, he had finally finished his gruelling treatment, and we thought his fight was finally over.
He had a well-deserved break to spend some quality time with his nana in Middlesbrough. Things were really starting to look good for kane he was managing to make it around the house on his crutches and had lots more energy. He was really excited for his trip to Disney Paris which was booked for September.
His dad had booked a holiday for them both to Dorset their special place.
However, in August 2023, we got the devastating news that the cancer had returned that he had 3 large tumours on major organs and that he only had weeks left.

As you can imagine this was a huge shock to kane his mum and our whole family

Despite all this Kane still managed to remain strong happy and courageous. Kane made the brave decision not to undergo further chemotherapy /radiotherapy sessions which made him extremely poorly and who could blame him! he just wanted to be as normal as he could for the remaining time he had left.
Sadly, our precious Kane had just turned 14 when he closed his eyes and went to sleep for the very last time on the 18th of September 2023. Almost 4 weeks after the tragic diagnosis.

Kane’s last wish was for us to set up a charity.
in his memory and raise money for RMS and the T11 ward at UCLH where he spent most of his time since being diagnosed. It was like a second home he formed very special bonds with many nurses there who would often refer to him as (our boy)

Please Help us keep Kane’s memory alive by giving whatever you can, because this selfless young teenager managed to smile through the pain, and always worried about everybody else. He wanted to help and improve someone else’s chances of fighting this horrible disease.
So, in order to grant Kane’s wish and keep his memory alive we are asking for your help.
Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a meaningful difference.
