Thank you for taking the time to visit this fund, but please read the update. Unfortunately Kanaan has left us, but his family needs our support more than ever!

My name is Cody and I am starting this page on behalf of my newest nephew, Kanaan, and his mom, dad, and big brother. 

Kanaan was supposed to be a Thanksgiving baby, but instead arrived well before Halloween on 10/19 at a tiny 4 lbs, 15 oz.  He had been in the NICU since being born, but yesterday (10/24) had to be transferred to another hospital because he has contracted enteroviral meningitis and septicemia. Though he's small, he's strong, but the doctors are saying the outcome is unknown at this time as there is no treatment and unfortunately the doctors expect him to get worse before he gets better! Because of the extent of the infection, the doctors determined it was best to intubate him.

In the words of Kanaan's mom, Andrea, 
"Now his body can use all of his energy to fight off the infection instead of straining to breathe, as well!"

But the longer he stays intubated, the higher the risk to his lungs and/or a chance for pneumonia.  

Against all these odds, he could sure use your help!



In the meantime, his parents have had the difficult task of having to balance the needs of Kanaan's  19 month old "big" brother at home with every parent's wish to stay by their sick child in the hospital every minute until the time they come home.  

All money donated will be used to help pay for Kanaan's escalating medical bills and will certainly help relieve some of the stress his family faces, as his parents have to choose between being there by his side or going to work to be able provide financially. 

Kanaan's mom has been discharged from the hospital but has been making multiple trips daily between home and hospital, tending to both of her sons. Kanaan's dad, Sean, has continued to go to work when Kanaan is stable, but yesterday's transfer to a new hospital makes him less able to leave his youngest son's side. 

Anything you are willing to donate would be a great help for this young family, and could really make a difference in the life of a tiny baby, struggling to get well enough to go home! I thank you so much for your time and any donation you can give. I know Kanaan and his family thank you too, and they will always be grateful.
