Kamper's Life Saving Transfusion

Tax deductible
5-12-25 Kamper Pupdate-
Our hearts are hurting. Despite Kamper being a fighter and everything we did for her, her body continued to attack her red blood cells.

Her hematocrit level increased one point an hour after the blood transfusion but when they rechecked at 7am it had dropped three points to 13. After speaking with Dr Pina about continued transfusions, she explained she likely would not recover given the reaction. Her breathing was labored from not having enough red blood cells to carry oxygen and she was tired. This was not the outcome we had hoped for. We unfortunately had to make the most difficult decision any pet parent has to face. We gave her peace.

Letting go of a beloved pet is excruciating and painful. Kamper was a special girl and loved helping other dogs and teaching them how to be a dog again. We were not ready for this. Who ever is? Not having her with me on searches and to calm a dog will certainly be a huge void for my family as well as Hope's Rescue and Recovery Angels. She was one of the Original Angels being my first foster and first foster fail. Five and a half years was not long enough.

She is our Angel now and watching and guiding us in what we do everyday.

I can't thank enough, all the people who donated to her vet bills and stood by us during this painful time. Thank you to my best friend Carrie Cessna who was with us the whole time and took her to Toothacres for us and Kimberly A Thompson who was with us at VEG yesterday. To the VEG staff for their love and care for Kamper and us during this time. And to my mom and sister, words aren't enough to say how much I love you and taking care of the rest of the kids at home.

Once I've had a chance to rest and gather myself, I will total everything raised and what her vet bills were. If there is more raised than what her bills totalled, we will put it toward rescue operations to save another baby or if you would like a refund please let me know.

Our hearts are breaking but she is not suffering anymore.

We are fundraising for Kamper's 2nd Emergency visit where she will need a discovery work up to determine the cause of her situation and for her lifesaving blood transfusion. She has a hematocrit level of 15 (normal is 45), a 104.5 fever, will not eat, lethargic and pale gums.

Kamper is a part of Hope's Rescue and Recovery Angels by being a magnet dog and teacher to the strays and fosters that come thru. She is a very important part of our rescue and family.
Once diagnostics and bloodwork come back we will update on where we go from here.

Thank you all!!
Love Kacy, Kari and Karen
