As many of you know, Kameron and Lauren (Monnin) Lee were blessed with a son on December 14, 2023. At birth, Percy Ambrose Lee appeared to be a perfectly healthy baby boy and immediately captured his family's heart.
Shortly after birth, Percy began experiencing unexplained episodes of irregular breathing, and was transferred to the NICU at Dayton Children's Hospital. An EEG showed that the episodes were actually seizures. After a follow up MRI, Percy was diagnosed with a perinatal stroke that damaged the occipital lobe of his brain. The full effects of this stroke and any deficits it may have caused will only be determined as he gets older.
Percy's seizures are currently being controlled with a medication cocktail that was created for him after several tests and procedures. The poor little guy has also had to endure intubation, catheterization, a PICC line in his leg, a feeding tube, and an oxygen line. He was put into a medically induced coma at one week old to give his brain a break from the seizures. Although he is now out of the coma, he continues to have subclinical seizures, remains very lethargic, and has difficulty staying awake or even opening his eyes for more than a few minutes at a time. Percy's condition is improving, but he has a long road ahead of him.
Many of you have asked how you can help. "Prayers! Please." But if you can, please also consider donating to this GoFundMe to help relieve the financial burden of Percy's current and future medical treatment.
There is also a venmo account set up for Percy: @Kamlee723
The outpouring of love, prayers, and support for them has been incredible. It has carried them, along with
their faith, through this emotionally exhausting time.
