The Old Same Story: A Documentary

Hoping to launch Summer Solstice 2024

The Kam Theatre Lab collective of the 1970s-80s experimented with national and global performance art forms and adapted them to the unique issues and concerns of Northwestern Ontario communities. "Kam Theatre Lab: The Old Same Story" documentary will bring to life a piece of Northwestern Ontario’s explosive artistic past.

The documentary will show the success and struggles Kam Theatre Lab faced when balancing the motivations of the individual artists with the ideals of the collective. All the exhilaration and tension that comes from close personal and creative relationships, and from the attempt to earn a living wage in a small town while not compromising artistic or political vision, were manifest in Kam Theatre Lab.

In the final stages of production, the documentary has been generously funded by the Ontario Arts Council as well as anonymous donors. To help reach completion, the project needs additional funds. Donate any amount to be part of this project that showcases the power of art and community in Northwestern Ontario.
