Kalvyn Ayling funeral expenses
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Erin and I am making this fundraiser on behalf of Kalvyn Ayling’s family to give him the best send off possible, so rightly deserved by a man who changed lives wherever he went and inspired so many.
Kalvyn was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in 2021, a form of cancer that was extremely aggressive and only attacked two places, the lungs and the brain. It did not come as shock to Kal as he had been struggling with persistent coughing and breathing issues. He underwent a long round of treatment’s with chemotherapy and radiation and struggled severely with side effects during this time and had some admissions to hospital which were traumatic and distressing for all involved. Thankfully despite the complications and constant breathing difficulties he came out on top and we thought he had kicked cancer’s butt! We were always wary though that the cancer would return and sadly it did in 2023 when he was diagnosed with brain cancer, the same as was in his lungs. So it was another long and distressing hospital admission, not just one but TWO brain surgeries less than a week apart to remove majority of the cancer and then more radiation treatment, the same treatment he experienced side effects from last time. Understandably he was concerned but ultimately thought of his children and grandchildren and family and decided to go ahead for them. During the treatment Kal suffered memory loss and loss of cognitive function, he also had severe headaches that lasted for some time. But once again, after the radiation his scans showed he was clear!! We celebrated Kal’s 60th birthday in June and shortly after he moved to Shepparton to live with beloved friends who have turned into family. It was in Shepparton where he declined again and was admitted to hospital with infections, sadly it was discovered during his last hospital admission that the cancer had spread and had now metastasised and we were informed that his fierce battle with cancer was coming to an end. He fought with dignity and bravery right to the end which is a testament to the man he always was throughout his whole life.
Our target is $11,000 which will pay for the send off Kal requested, unfortunately he had no savings so the cost of the funeral has been left to the family. We would so appreciate any donation you can make or alternatively please share the GoFundMe so we can hopefully raise as much as we need.
