Our Friend and Dive Instructor, Kali Chamberlin ,surfaced not feeling well after a regular routine dive, one of the thousands she had undertaken in over a decade. Minutes later she collapsed and fell unconscious. Medivaced back to Australia, she remained in a coma for 12 days.
The incredible team of hyperbaric doctors at the Royal Brisbane & Womens Hospital (RBWH) put Kali through vigorous recompression therapies while somehow keeping her alive. Her mother Donna and Ron, keeping a bedside vigil, never gave up hope. On the day when the attempt to remove Kali's breathing tubes arrived, the doctors prepared the family for the worst. After Kali had been given an MRI, they told the family that she had extensive brain damage, would probably be blind, have no control of her emotions and be paralysed.
Two days later… Kali woke up…. Within 5 minutes she was shaking the doctors hands and thanking them for what they had done. Each day Kali is on her way to what can only be described as a miracle recovery. While the road is long and the expected recovery will take who knows how long, this GO FUND me campaign is to reach out for help from you by asking for a small contribution to help her with the medical and rehabilitation costs. Thank you kindly x
