Kalifa's 6-mo Study-Univ. of Ghana

Donation protected
I am asking for your support of my brilliant and beautiful god-daughter Kalifa J. Wright, who, as a first-year graduate student in Global Public Health at Columbia University, is required to conduct a 6-month field study, UNPAID.  Kalifa is a recent honors graduate of Duke University and she is passionate about her mission to improve the health of women and children in Africa and other developing nations... for the next 6 months she will be conducting research at the University of Ghana. (details below)

We need your help! Kalifa travels to Ghana June 15.
Your generous donations will be used to offset the high cost of travel and her room, board and living expenses. Thank you for supporting her through your Contributions and your Prayers!

Here is  Kalifa's story:
My name is Kalifa Wright and I am currently a first-year graduate student at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health studying Health Policy & Management and Global Health. As part of my program, I am required to complete a 6-month practicum, and have recently accepted a position at the University of Ghana. In partnership with faculty at Columbia, I will have the opportunity to work as a qualitative analyst at the Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS).

The project will be focused on expanding a Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS+) Initiative which aims to increase child survival in the region. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from researchers and faculty at the University of Ghana, as well as, health and policy professionals at the Ghana Health Service. The program will give me the opportunity to get a first-hand analysis of the discrepancy between government interventions and implementation on the grounds, and furthermore, the different aspects of leadership and mechanisms that need to be in place to deliver care.

As I embark on this journey, and continue to build on my career as a healthcare professional, I look forward to integrating my experiences to contribute to long-term health systems reform to improve maternal and child health outcomes internationally.

My words alone cannot thank you enough for your support in helping me make a difference in the world.
