Kali Rose Mann Memorial "Iron-Jawed Angels" Award
Déductible des impôts
It has been nearly ten years since Kali Rose Mann has been with us. Kali had many people who were dearest to her life and we have missed her profoundly. Her life, though it ended tragically too soon, lives on in a legacy of gender empowerment and perpetual memories of love and acceptance.
Kali was a "09" Graduate of Creighton University, and in the spring of 2010, the Women's and Gender Studies program at Creighton University bestowed upon Kali its first "Iron-Jawed Angels" Award: The Alice Paul Award for Leadership in Service of Gender Justice. Later that year, on Christmas Eve, Kali left the earthly plane. Since then, her light has continued to press forward in our hearts and in the fight for gender equality. She was truly “herself… for others.”
At the memorial service for Kali in January 2011, Dr. Susan Calef, the director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program, announced that the award would henceforth be renamed the Kali Rose Mann Memorial “Iron-Jawed Angels” Award for Leadership in Service of Gender Justice. Since then, numerous exceptional Creighton graduates have been recognized with the award, each who possess the passion for and courageous advocacy on behalf of gender justice. In addition to the recognition, a monetary gift is awarded to the recipient. Recipients use this monetary gift to pursue graduate studies or cover other such costs in the fight for gender equity.
At this timely juncture we are moved to try to raise enough funds to establish this award as an endowment fund, The Kali Rose Mann Memorial “Iron-Jawed Angels” Award, and secure her legacy in perpetuity. An endowment is an ongoing fund to provide the University with a stable source of income to advance the award permanently. By donating, you will be a part of recognizing exceptional individuals who are working towards fighting to end inequities and ensuring equality for all humans regardless of their gender, orientation, or sexual expression. The time for gender justice is now.
Please join us in keeping her legacy alive and her light and love to continue to press forward in our hearts and in the fight for justice. Yes, she was truly “herself… for others.”
By donating, you are sharing in the for gender equality. Thank you for investing in this worthy cause.
