Hi, I'm Kale, I've been a wheelchair user for almost 7 years now, and for the last 2 of those I have been limping along a dangerously broken but very well loved power chair. After a period of homelessness, I'm finally in accessible housing for the first time ever & for my Birthday this year I'm fundraising to get a new chair!

I have hEDS, Fibromyalgia, Psoriatic Arthritis & POTs and have been spending increasing amounts of time housebound again as my current wheelchair hurts too much to be in long term.

Due to my health & mobility worsening in the last 7 years, I now need a more supportive chair that is comfier to sit in for long periods of time, which most folding chairs aren't, but I need a folding chair as I travel between cities a lot & it has to fit into my car, which I rely on to get me from A to B! I now can't stand to be in my current folding chair for more than an hour or two at a time, and the last time I tried to go to a longer event in it, I had to leave early & still was laid up in bed with pain for several days afterwards.

Last week I saw a clearance model of one of the top choices of wheelchair I wanted [Ultra Comfort Elite from Glebe Mobility] worth almost £2000 down to £999, I decided to take the plunge & buy the wheelchair on credit, while I fundraise to be able to pay it off. If I can pay off the whole amount in 4 months, I don't have to pay interest but I can't do that without your help!

Even the best folding wheelchair I won't be able to tolerate for full days, folding chairs are excellent for travelling, but are still nowhere near as comfy & supportive as proper electric powerchairs. I recently managed to find a second hand Quantum Q6 Edge Powerchair (£8000 new but I got mine for £300 as it needs repairs done to it) which has an ergonomic gel backrest and seat, meaning I can be in this chair for longer without causing severe pain, but I can only use this around my local area as this can also be transported in wheelchair accessible vechiles (WAVs). I looked into getting a WAV for a long time, but I wouldn't be able to park it close enough to my home to be feesible, as I live in an English City Centre with narrow streets & a daily battle for parking, even in a normal sized car! Asides from this, the chair is much better suited for my needs but as it was second hand & very cheap, it needs serviced, repaired & the battery replaced as soon as possible as I've had to race the battery low blinking red light home on almost every use so far. From what I've been quoted by several different mobility aid specialists, will be at least £250 so anything raised over the amount for a new folding chair will go towards repairing this chair.

Edit: Due to the wheelchair from Glebe Mobility being faulty, and injuring me I'm now looking for a replacement, which will likely cost more so I may have to raise the total fundraising amount.
