Kaleesi helping her big sister
Anyone who knows us, know that we don’t share our personal lives on social media. Over the past year, Bella, my oldest step daughter has been struggling with some serious health issues. Bella was recently diagnosed with functional neurological disorder “a new spectrum disorder” . FND is a disconnect between the mind and the body. There are not many studies out there and each case is very different. Currently Bella is unable to walk, is in a wheelchair, has lost her vision , requires a feeding tube for nutrition because she is unable to feed herself and experiences daily non epileptic seizures that can last up to an hour or more. Her most recent symptoms is constant shaking, like Parkinson’s and when she tries to take a deep breath she hyperventilates because she can’t get a full breath in. We recently took a trip to Boston to see her and my other step daughter Gabby. Their siblings were beyond excited to see them as the time between visits has become longer and longer. Only this trip was different. Our usual walks around the parks, malls and stores were places with strolls around hospital floors, gift shops and cafeterias. The rest is written from Kaleesi…
” Bella is my oldest sister and I just want her to get better . I miss the days when we swim and go to Kalahari together . I see pictures of Bella helping other children when they need it and now it’s time I help her. Bella and I took a nice walk around the hospital when I went to visit. She made a joke that I was a better driver than her mom with the wheel chair -hehe. We even picked out the same plush toys at the gift shop to snuggle when we weren’t together. In school this year we did a project , “What will you be in 20 years?” Mrs H, if you see this or any EMO teachers, I want to change my answer . I want to be a doctor and cure FND and save my sister . I want her to walk and see again and to be a kid and play with me. I want her to be happy and go back to helping other kids in hospitals through her “Have Fun and Stay Strong” foundation, which I want to be a part of. I miss and love her so much, I want to do everything I can to help her. I want to see her dancing on the stage again and going with my dad to watch her and gabby in “The Nutcracker.” She has to go to a special hospital in Maryland and I want to help get her there. I’m emptying my piggy bank and doing extra chores around the house to help Bella. I would also like to help others who have FND. Any money donated that Bella doesn’t need, I will use for other FND families in need.”
