Kaleb's Medical Crisis Support Fund

Donation protected
This raising of financial support is for Kaleb Cole, and his family supporting him during this critical medical crisis he is currently in.

Kaleb was discovered to have a serious clotting disorder. He was found to have three clogged arteries, the most serious being the only blood supply to his digestive system.

He was scheduled for surgery for 5AM on President's Day. While the surgery was successful at removing the blockage, it took 2 hours longer than the scheduled 6 hours. In the days after his procedure, he began having troubling symptoms and new problems that began to hinder if not reverse his recovery, and cause him immense pain, and his health seemed to decline.

By day 5 of being in the hospital, it was then discovered he had developed pneumonia. His violent coughing tore some of the work done in surgery, and he began to bleed internally. Along with that, he had nonstop hiccuping due to something affecting his diaphragm, which was also debilitating. He was taken back into surgery where they made sure nothing else had happened, and to correct the bleeding problem.
Due to the nature of his clotting disorder, he was put on blood thinners, making all of this considerably more tenuous.

By day 6 or 7 of being in the hospital, his health began to decline again. They put in a wound vac and a special bandage that doesn't need to be changed but weekly and should hold his incision together. (The incision is large. It goes from his sternum to his lower stomach.)

Every day there seemed to be small improvements only to have a new problem arise. They have now discovered in Kaleb's labs that his liver is failing. We are waiting for an MRI scan at the moment to know more.

Amanda is Kaleb's wife, and right hand. She has stayed with him every day, often around the clock. His mother Kim supports the time that she cannot be there. Amanda is as crucial to Kaleb's medical team as his nurses and tends to him minute by minute as he is a high risk high needs patient. As a result, she has missed a full two weeks of work and will continue to miss. As a taxi driver she is an independent contractor and does not have benefits. This time is unpaid and puts her job in jeopardy. She is the sole provider for their family of four and the toll is critical.

Their needs would be a goal of $500/week and meals for Kim and Kurt, Kaleb's parents, while the kids live with them. Kim and Kurt are providing vital support for the family, taking care of the kids, with school, sports, church and meals on top of the caring and support of their son during this difficult time.

Prayers are always appreciated. Some praying points would be:
  • Kaleb has not slept for longer than 30 minutes at a time in 12 days, and is desperate and delirious.
  • His liver is failing
  • The pneumonia is wracking him with coughing and further traumatizing his torso.
  • All of this has him weak, tired, disoriented and unable to get out of bed. But walking is IMPERATIVE to this surgery being successful, or else dangerous obstructions can form.

Every gift of support is desperately needed, and appreciated more than you'll ever know. Thank you.
