Hi everyone,
My name is Kalea Sheung and I am seeking donors to raise funds to attend World University Games in Chengdu, China in June 2022 as part of Team USA for badminton. A week ago, I placed 2nd at the Collegiate National Championships in North Carolina (the qualifying tournament) for both Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Badminton has been significant in my life since I was 6 years old and being selected for this tournament is a tremendous honor. I am currently working toward raising the funds and have applied for several scholarships in order to raise funds but still have a ways to go to adequately fund this trip.
I have represented the US Junior National Team every year since 2013. I am also a former US Junior National Champion and placed 3rd at the US Adult Nationals for Women’s Singles and 5th for Mixed Doubles in 2018.
A little more about me:
Athletics:
- Varsity badminton team captain
- Varsity track sophomore year
- Club swim for 8 years (participated in Aquathons fundraising for Abilities United)
Outside of athletics:
- High achieving student and aspiring sports medicine physician
- Co-founder of Taylor Middle School mentorship program
- Co-President of Mills Biology Club
- Private tutor
A little bit more:
- I am a little sister and my brother is my biggest inspiration
- I love making dumplings with my mom at home
- I really like old, vintage things like postcards
