Kale Needs Your Help: A Mother's Plea
Donation protected
My name is Kate, and this is my friend and neighbor, Dorian, and her 9-year-old son, Kale. He was a happy, active kid until he and his mom were in a car accident. This caused Kale some injury, a concussion, which was treated at the hospital with children's Motrin. This disguised his horrific condition since it masked a fever.
Just recently, his mom had to call 911 when he was burning with a fever and unresponsive in the middle of the night. They wouldn't let her in the ambulance at first, and this mother had to HEAR the EMTs yell, "Come back to us, Kale!" as they tried to pull him back from death. They were luckily successful, but since then he's had brain surgery and has been diagnosed with streptococcus intermedius meningitis, which is so rare, the doctors don't even know how to treat it. We still don't know if this was the result of the car accident or an underlying condition. They're trying. His mother is trying HER best to help her son. She's a single mom who cleans houses for a living. She's obviously not working right now. He is not out of the woods, but he's improving. However. He will need long time care and help with relearning motor skills, verbal skills, and basic life skills due to this illness. I'm asking for ANY help you can offer, whether it's money or information. Please help this mother and son.
