Kalamata Kats- Sanctuary, rescue, TNR and rehoming in Greece
Donation protected
UPDATE - The initial colony has now been relocated with wonderful success!
This fundraisers purpose is now to assist with feeding, vets bills, and TNR of more street cats in Kalamata and the continuing growth of the Kalamata Kats sanctuary to allow me to rescue and provide a safe space for other cats who are unable to manage alone on the streets in the Kalamata area.
I'm extremely grateful for all of the support everyone has given since starting the fundraiser in March
This fundraiser is to assist with the relocation of a colony of street cats in Kalamata, Greece, who are at risk of poisoning and homelessness, and the beginning of a new sanctuary.
The old house in which the colony have been living is being sold and will be demolished for development and they will have nowhere to go. Local neighbours are threatening them with poison because there are too many.
I have been caring for these cats for 6 years, and they are all sterilised.
I have been fortunate enough to find an old farm with a large barn for their relocation. Many have been moved already.
Once the initial colony has settled in I will open as a sanctuary for other cats who are not managing on the streets in the Kalamata area.
There is currently no shelter or welfare for cats here, so this move is more than necessary.
All cats will be enclosed in the barn to settle into their new home for 6-8 weeks before being released into the safety of their new 11,000sqm sanctuary.
Please help us by donating towards food, litter and veterinary costs. We also desperately need more traps to assist with the move (these cats are mostly feral and cannot be caught by hand) and to help me continue my TNR (trap, neuter, release) efforts in Kalamata which are so important.
Thank you
