Hello! I am very grateful to everyone who has taken the time out of their day to read my story.
I'm Kaiya De Gennaro, I am a 25 year old working transgender woman living in Leeds, UK. I began my journey four years ago and I have been on the waiting list for the NHS Gender Identity Services ever since. Luckily in the past year, I have managed to start hormonal replacement therapy which I have started noticing gradual changes in how I act and how I look. This is helping with my mental health in regards to the gender dysphoria that I experience, however I do not believe I will feel fully at peace with my body unless I can fulfil further steps in completing my transition. At this current moment in time I do struggle with money, I am on a low income and I do not have any savings to go ahead and put any sort of deposit down for breast enhancement surgery. I come from a working class background and I went to university, so I have a lot of debt which I am paying off and this stops me from saving money to put towards my transition.

All of my life I have constantly felt out of place and different. I have always known that there was something different about me, but due to growing up in an intolerant educational environment, I didn't come out as a transgender woman until I was in university. This means I went through male puberty and now, unfortunately, there are a lot of features about myself that I cannot stand. Some of these features are things I cannot change such as my height, however there are other features that I can change with surgery such as my lack of breasts and my genitalia. Although I know this comes at a great cost, the first step towards gaining some sort of relief from my dysphoria would be raising money towards breast enhancement surgery.
In the past, I was the transgender representative on student council at university. This role consisted of helping fellow transgender students with their journey, creating a gender identity workshop which was used by staff and students in diversity training and being at the forefront of the successful campaign for gender neutral toilets which has been implemented at Leeds Beckett University. In my time I have constantly made efforts to create safe spaces for LGBT people and just by existing, I am constantly educating and helping other people understand LGBT issues.

My goal would be to raise £5,000 to afford the enhancement surgery to feel closer to completing my transition and feeling more confident with the body that I have. It has been a long struggle and I really hope that one day I will be able to look at myself in the mirror and be truly happy and comfortable within my own skin.
I would be very grateful for any amount of money this gets, whether it's £1 or just sharing the link so it is out there for other people to see. Any form of generosity is beyond appreciated and means the world to me in taking the next step to becoming who I really am.
