Help with terminal cancer expenses for Kaitlyn

Most people who know me know that I have a hard time accepting help from others. I have always strived to be independent. As a 24 year old who just graduated with my masters degree in social work, I was ready to start my life and career when I was diagnosed with stage 3 grade 3 triple negative breast cancer in January 2022. Initially, the treatment plan was for me to have 6 months of the most aggressive chemotherapy, surgery to remove the cancer, and radiation. Now a little over a year later, I’ve been through all of the above and am unfortunately still in the thick of it. After my double mastectomy, my cancer recurred rapidly despite all of the aggressive treatment I’ve gone through.

A month after my double mastectomy I was feeling excited and grateful to have a fresh start and be “cancer free”. I got a job as a therapist and was so ready to do what I’m passionate about and what I’ve been trained in. I started working around the same time I started my 35 days of radiation. I would go to radiation at 7 AM and to work right after everyday.

After a month of being at my new job, I found out my cancer was back and that I would need to do at least 6 more months of chemotherapy. I was devastated to say the least. Since I was new, I wasn’t entitled to benefits yet. I made the decision to leave as my body has already taken such a beating and now has more to go through. I am facing some uncertainty related to health insurance and finances being that I turn 26 this month.  I never thought I’d be in this position. I thought I’d go through a year of treatment and be able to move forward with my life but now there’s no end in sight.

I am eternally grateful for any amount that gets donated as it will help provide me with a sense of security and safety net to fall back on for health insurance, loss of work, and other treatment related expenses. I have so much love for everyone who has given words of encouragement and uplifted my spirits this far.
