Many of you know I'm no stranger to doctors, hospitals, or surgeries. We are here once again. In 2013, I had metal rods inserted along the length of my spine to correct a severe curve. That was quite the adventure, but I made it through. 

In January, I noticed that my rods were straining against the skin at the top, near my neck. I began trying to get an appointment with a surgeon to assess how to fix it. I knew I'd need more surgery. What I didn't know is how difficult it would be to get the help I need. Between red tape from insurance and hospital administration, and COVID causing massive delays - now we are here several months later and my condition has only worsened. 

One of my metal rods finally pierced through the skin last week. The risk of infection is very high. I have been on bed rest since then, waiting to get into the doctor after being sent home by the ER. This has been incredibly frustrating, to say the least.

The surgeon called me today - he said that I am in need of more complex care than his office/hospital can provide. He is sending me to Temple ASAP, I head there tomorrow (July 3). The doctor assures me I will be admitted and taken care of. 

Now, the fun part. Insurance at best will cover 80% of my expenses, and of course I will be out of work for a while. I still have bills that must be paid for the next few months. The appointments/copays I've had over the last two weeks have decimated my finances. I'm asking for any help you are able to offer to make this possible for me.
