Kaitlyn is my oldest niece. After experiencing intense, but mysterious nerve pain for about a year, we discovered Kaitlyn had a tumor growing in her brain that was wrapped around nerves (vestibular schwannoma) causing extreme pain in her face and jaw. Upon discovery, Dr. Snyderman and Dr. Gardner from UPMC  jumped on the complicated case and after a ten hour surgery, Kait is recovering, surrounded by her parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles. The road to recovery will be a long one, but at only thirteen years old, Kait (as we so lovingly call her) is one brave warrior. Her parents have devoted every waking moment to be at her side through this scary time. At this moment I want to make sure my sister and brother-in-law do not need to worry about anything except for taking care of their little girl.
