For many of us, we take just grabbing a bite of food to eat for granted. Katelyn is a beautiful nine year old girl that has struggled with anxiety and Emetophobia (extreme fear of vomit) for years which have both led to a diagnosis of ARFID.
ARFID is an eating disorder in which the person diagnosed is restricted by the types and amounts of food that they eat. In her case, she fears that if she eats certain things or eats too much, it will make her vomit, so she restricts herself from eating much. Although she has had this for most of her life, her health is now severely suffering from it. She has fractured 5 bones in 7 months due to malnourishment.
Katelyn has racked up a lot of doctor bills from all of the fractured bones, therapy, ER visits, doctors appointments and more. She needs to go to a specialized treatment facility for aggressive residential treatment to combat these illnesses before she gets any worse, but there are no facilities that offer what she needs in Ohio. The facility she needs to go to is in Baltimore, Maryland and it is quite expensive.
Katelyn’s mom Leanne has been been such a positive and active member of the Brunswick community. She has organized a local group to go out once a month and help clean up our community parks and is involved in many other community events. We now ask that you help support this family get the medical treatment that their daughter desperately needs.
