Yesterday my friend, Nelda Garcia, received the news no parent should ever have to hear. Her beloved Katie was in an automobile accident and didn’t survive. Anyone who knows Nelda knows Katie is her life and her pain is unimaginable.

Many of you know Nelda as your local cake lady, but she is so much more than that. She is the most generous, kindest, loving friend you can ever have and she passed that gentle humor onto Katie.

I met Nelda when I was Katie’s 5th grade teacher and when she found out I was in a bind having moved schools, she offered to pick Ty up everyday and bring him to me. She ended up babysitting both my niece K’Lee and granddaughter Ashlynn. Her son and my daughter were the best of friends.

My heart is aching right now and I am asking for your help in easing this family’s financial burden right now. Anything you can help with is very much appreciated!
