Kaitlyn Edwards Recovery Fund
Donation protected
On April 7, 2019, my sister Kaitlyn Edwards was involved in a very serious car accident. The Florida Highway Patrol believes that a pine tree that was downed during Hurricane Michael broke through her windshield, causing a severe brain injury. After being taken from the accident to Southeast Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama, she was taken to UAB Hospital for emergency brain surgery, where her intracranial pressure was stabilized. She has been in a coma since the accident, but is continuing to show positive signs during her neurological checks, and we are hopeful that she will fully regain consciousness soon.
As her need for acute medical attention is nearing its conclusion, we will now be looking at the best TBI rehabilitation facilities for her continued long-term treatment. These funds will be used to cover the cost of travel to view facilities, offset the costs of treatment in the facility, and to provide the family with financial assistance during this process.
Aside from the financial concerns, there is uncertainty about when, how, and where Kaitlyn will be sent for her rehabilitation. If anyone has advice, recommendations, or useful information to assist us during this journey, any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
