Kaitlin’s Craniotomy Recovery & Ongoing Care Fund
Donation protected
Our gratitude goes out to everyone who has chosen to read this and consider helping our dear friends, Michael and Kaitlin. They have recently suffered a medical hardship and we are raising funds to assist them in their time of need. Although they are still relatively young, their kindness and generosity is known by many. If anyone seemed unlikely to face something this difficult, it is them. They’ve always been the kind of people who show up for others, and now they’re the ones who need a little help. We believe with all our hearts that they are truly deserving of that support.
For over a year and a half, our dear friend Kaitlin (Kait) had been experiencing what we initially believed were panic attacks. However, after this incident, we learned that these episodes were actually focal-aware seizures. Then, in the early hours of Thursday, April 24th, 2025, she experienced a full seizure around 4 a.m. Her husband, Michael, took her to the doctor later that morning, still unaware of how serious things were. A CT scan revealed a 7-centimeter mass—about the size of a peach—on the right side of her brain.
Once the mass was discovered, she was quickly transferred to the emergency room. Initial analysis suggested the mass could pose an immediate threat to her life, prompting urgent action. However, after further evaluation in the ICU, doctors determined that it wasn’t quite as immediately life-threatening as first feared, but the situation was still very serious.
On Monday, April 28th, Kait underwent a craniotomy to remove the mass. We are so grateful to share that the surgery was a success. Although doctors weren’t able to remove the entire mass, they were able to extract most of it, including the portion that posed the greatest risk to her life.
Kait is now in recovery and is expected to return home soon. While their insurance will cover much of the cost, brain surgery and the ongoing treatment that follows are incredibly expensive. In addition to medical bills, they’ll be facing expenses for medications and follow-up care that could continue for a year or more.
To make matters more difficult, before Kait’s emergency, Michael had already been scheduled to have impacted and cracked wisdom teeth removed—a procedure that was already going to place a financial strain on them. Kait’s unexpected medical crisis has now compounded that burden.
Any donation—no matter the amount—will make a difference. Prayers are also deeply appreciated. God has carried them through so much already, but they still have a long road ahead. While we’re not asking for the full amount of their medical costs, we hope to ease some of their financial stress during this incredibly challenging time.
Once again, we appreciate you for taking the time to read their story and for considering a donation or a prayer on their behalf.
