Hello Friends! As many of you know, I started my own professional contemporary dance company in 2006 in Manhattan Beach. My passion for dance is two-fold: I have been a teacher since I was 17, and have been lucky enough to work with a number of bright and talented youth throughout the Bay Area in Northern California as well as Hermosa, Redondo and Manhattan Beach in Southern California, perhaps your own children included! But what seals my love for dance are the opportunities I am given to choreograph contemporary works on professional dancers.
With support from this wonderful community I am a part of, I was able to enter and win a choreography competition in 2013, and I have been given another amazing opportunity to showcase my work in San Jose, California this February 27th and 28th at the San Jose Dance Co ChoreoProject. This festival is particularly dear to my heart as I received my BA in Dance from San Jose State University and will have the distinction of showcasing my work for my college dance professors and advisors. Coming full circle from where I began my dance career is truly an honor for me, and I am asking for your help!
Any contributions given will help to cover the costs of travel, lodging and small stipends for five of my amazing and hard-working dancers. Thank you for taking the time to read about this project. Creating art through any genre is truly a chance for the artist to share who they are inside. I welcome that opportunity as often as I can, and I feel nothing but gratitude for the support and love I have been given by friends like you throughout the years!
P.S. For those of you who live in Northern California...I hope to see you in February! For more info on this particular event or about Kairos in general, please visit www.kairosdancecompany.com
