Kaira's Healing and Support Tip/Ryo
Donation protected
Weʼre raising funds to support Tip & Ryo whilst 8 week old Kaira is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. This money will help towards medical bills and so both parents can stay by her side!
Whilst some of Kaira's medical care will be covered by insurance, some of it won't. The funds raised will help relieve the pressure of the additional associated medical costs for Kaira's care and Tip & Ryo's household bills during this stressful time...
8 weeks ago our friends in California welcomed their beautiful daughter, Kaira, into the world.
On Wednesday night, May 9th, Kaira was crying in Ryo’s arms and went limp, struggling to breathe. Tip and Ryo rushed Kaira to the ER but struggled with the doctor to convey the true emergency as her breathing had recovered by then. Kaira usually makes great eye contact but when she opened her eyes she had a completely blank stare. Tip and Ryo tried to explain to the doctor about her unusual behavior but the doctor said she was behaving 'normally'. The doctor scheduled a pediatric appointment for the next morning and they were sent home prematurely without the tests she needed.
On Thursday at 10am Kaira attended the pediatric appointment after a sleepless night not being able to get Kaira to feed. There the pediatrician, recognizing the emergency, immediately called 911. Once the medics arrived it was decided that Kaira would be taken to a different hospital, CHOC - Children's Hospital of Orange County, California.
Once Kaira finally received the tests she needed, an MRI showed that Kaira had a stroke, which led to the bleeding in her brain. For the last 2 days, she’s been having constant silent seizures. A new definition of “suffering in silence.” They can’t seem to get it under control.
Doctors are leaning towards a blood disorder that was likely to have caused the stroke, and the stroke is causing the seizures. Further tests are currently being carried out.
Please help us support the family to minimize any financial pressure, allowing them to be by Kaira's side at this difficult time and during her recovery.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about Kaira and donating. your support means the world to Tip and Ryo.
