Kaimana's Journey to the Link Program
Donation protected
Hello and welcome! My name is Kaimana, for those who may not know me, and I am a recent graduate of Roosevelt University’s musical theatre dance program. My passion for theatre began at the young age of 10, and it has guided me to where I am today. Since being in Chicago I have gotten the chance to not only learn in the college setting but I have gotten a few wonderful opportunities to work professionally with Theater’s such as Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Porchlight Music Theatre, Kokandy Productions, and the Encore Musical Theatre Company. Working at these theater’s gave me bounds of knowledge about the inner workings of theatre as well as what it takes to pursue it as a career.
With that being said, I just found out I was accepted into the Link Program at the Growing Studio as a Singer/Dancer, which is an amazing opportunity for growth and working first hand with Broadway directors, choreographers, and artistic directors. This program has a very limited acceptance rate, so it is an opportunity that should not be missed. Being that I’ve been accepted I will be getting to go to New York at the end of the December/beginning of January for a week and a half. The Link program is vital in providing a network of connections, opportunities, and a strong foundation for a career in the arts and how to navigate this career during this time of COVID.
Graduating in May alongside COVID was not an easy transition into building a career in the entertainment business. It has left me with a lack of financial and structural support. As a recent graduate I do not have the funds to pursue this incredible opportunity on my own. I currently am working full-time to support myself as well as working hard to pursue my dream, but unfortunately my job will not be enough to cover the cost of this program. I am aware of how hard this year has been on everyone, so I appreciate even the time you have taken to read my story. Every and any donation helps, even if you just share this page! Thank you again!
With love,
Kaimana
