Kaide’s Recovery

It’s hard for me to write this but my family needs your help.

On Saturday 19th March in the early hours of the morning my youngest brother Kaide who is 19, was found unresponsive state at his friends house.

Paramedics were called and they quickly diagnosed Kaide with a severe traumatic brain injury and placed him in a medically induced coma. He was then sent to emergency surgery once arriving at GCUH where it showed a fractured skull and an extradural blood clot. The neurosurgeon was able to evacuate the hematoma successfully.

They have then tried to wake him up late Saturday night but were not successful in doing so, then they went back to theatre to insert a monitor (intracranial pressure monitor) inside his brain to monitor the brain swelling. This attempt at weakening his sedation and not having any luck at him rousing has lead the team to keep in a medically induced coma to let his body and brain heal the best it can.

He has now also potentially developed pneumonia and the team are treating him with some aggressive IV antibiotics to treat this infection. Kaide has had multiple tests done over the last 5 days, this will continue until he is awake and we are more aware of the situation regarding his recovery. Every day is a new day and we painstakingly await any news from the doctors regarding tests etc- all we can do is take it day by day at this stage.

A lot of our friends and family are asking how they can help in this time- and the main concern that causes worry is the financial side of things for them so it has been suggested by our cousin Rachel that we start a go fund me page, the money raised would dramatically help my parents.

By Being able to ease some of the financial pressure of their backs and it will see them to be able to go to the hospital everyday and be there to support Kaide in this journey that he is on and not have to rush going back to work in the next few weeks. The money will also go towards Kaides rehab recovering when he wakes up. This is going to be a long medical journey. We cannot express how much it would mean to be able to raise some money.

We are heart broken that this is happening and do not wish it on anyone.. Much love The Clark Milikins Clan Xo
