This is Kaiden ❤
I'm BEYOND blessed, because I get to be this amazing little guy's Aunt! He's one of the smartest, most vibrant, caring, charismatic 8 year old's I know. He's like every other kid who loves to play, be outdoors, play video games, engage with his siblings, hiking, running... It's just that, for Kaiden, he's got to work a whole lot harder than anyone else.
Kaiden was born with Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy. It's a chronic neuromuscular condition of hypertonia and spasticity manifested as an especially high and constant tightness or stiffness in the muscles, usually those of his legs, hips and pelvis. Basically.... as a result, Kaiden has to walk on his 'tippy toes' everywhere he goes, which causes him to fall constantly and severly limits his ability to run / jump /etc. and can become painful when on his "feet" for long periods of time.
After many appts. with doctors over the years and even more prayers, we are so excited that Kaiden has finally been approved for a special surgery called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. It's a surgical procedure that will be performed on his lower spinal cord, where they will cut certain sensory nerve fibers in the spinal cord that are causing him to be tight.
His surgery is scheduled for March 28th and he's going to have to stay in the hospital for about a month. He will have to re-learn how to walk all over again, but this time with stronger legs than ever before. Between physical therapy, braces for his feet, driving 2 hours each way back and forth to doctors appointments, MRI's, and the surgery cost, the bills have piled up and insurance will not pay for all of it.
ANY kind donation would be BEYOND appreciated by our family to help offset some of the costs, and if for some reason you cannot help financially, we would greatly covet your prayers over his surgery and for a speedy recovery for him, as we all know there are always risks involved in this type of situation.
Our hope and prayer is that Kaiden will be able to walk and run without hurting or falling anymore, that he can participate in activities that all of his siblings and friends do with ease. That he will be able to share what God has done for him and use his story and his journey to help others as he grows.
Again, THANK YOU so much for ANY help you could offer, it is so very much appreciated and we welcome you to follow Kaiden on his journey through his special Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/TeamKaidenWalking
