Support Kaiden Peterson and family for medical expenses.

Some of us close friends to Naomi wanted to start this page to help Naomi and her family through this unthinkable time. Naomi is a single mother of 3 and is out of work for unknown amount of time, due to the horrific circumstances. As many know, Naomi is a hard working independent hairdresser, which means… if she does not work, she has no income. Not to mention, the costs she will incur while staying in Fargo and the medical expenses to follow. We would like to lessen the financial burden this will cause as she cares for her son, who needs his mama there with him. Please consider reading the last update she posted to Kaiden’s Caringbridge page on 9/4/23.

From Naomi:
Kaiden was involved in a critical dirt bike accident, colliding with an ATV while not wearing a helmet. He was life-flighted to Sanford in Fargo, where a CT scan revealed a significant brain bleed on the front right side of his brain, as well as a broken left wrist and finger. A bolt sensor was inserted to monitor his pressure, which initially read 37, with a target of under 20. By bedtime, the pressure had decreased to 9, but by morning, it had increased to 22-24. Dr. Yong was concerned about the pressure not decreasing and noted a peak reading of 27. At 4 pm, she decided to surgically remove half of his skull to alleviate the pressure. The scans showed the bleed was not subsiding, affecting the bottom of his brain, and causing pressure to push into the right side of his brain, with a potential sign of a stroke also detected.

At 6pm on 9/3, the surgical procedure was completed. Dr. Yong reported a successful outcome and expressed satisfaction with the decision to proceed with surgery. The patient's brain had been under significant stress and swelling, but upon removal of the bone plate, the brain relaxed, allowing for effective blood removal. The bone plate is expected to be in place for approximately one month. Dr. Yong plans to gradually bring the patient out of the coma on Friday to assess the extent of damage. Fortunately, the patient is expected to retain their memory, although some permanent damage to the left side is anticipated. Additional scans are scheduled for the morning.
