Kai Taniguchi's Recovery Fund

Aloha! My name is Ka’ili (Kai) Taniguchi. I never thought I’d be in this position to ask for help, but here I am. I’m used to being the one giving, but it’s time to open my heart to receiving.
A Little About Me:
I grew up in Hawaii and loved academics and sports. I graduated with a double major in International Business and Entrepreneurship, started up a business during college, studied abroad in Spain and then in Denmark, founded a nonprofit, and loved marathon running, dancing, and being creative.
After college, I spent a year doing logistics while backpacking around the world serving people and then spent a couple of years serving at a Bible Camp while coaching and running an Art Center part-time as their Director. After that, I moved back to Hawaii to help teach entrepreneurship to students at the collegiate level and met my now fiancé, Brandon.
In 2019, when I was 26 years old, I quit my job and moved from Hawaii to Nevada to do business together with Brandon in several different industries. I was training to do an Iron Man and was ready for this new season.
Little did I know that summer my life path would change forever.
It’s been humbling getting to the point where I had to quit our businesses, couldn’t walk anymore, was in debilitating pain, and needed full-time care.
Diagnosis Timeline:
-May 2019: My symptoms started showing up.
-April 2021: I was finally diagnosed with Lyme disease by the CDC standard with five co-infections: Chikungunya, Japanese Encephalitis, three bacteria infections, and severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was at risk for heart and organ failure and was 85 pounds.
-February 2022: I was diagnosed with a significant parasite infestation, heavy metal toxins, fungus, and still showed signs of Lyme underneath. Due to the diseases, I was also recommended a total knee joint replacement and surgery for my torn meniscus. Unfortunately, I showed deterioration in most of my joints.
-July 2022: I was diagnosed by a biological dentist that showed several dental infections requiring surgery, low-grade mercury poisoning from my fillings, and TMJ.
Getting my $18,900 diagnosis from the biological dentist was the point when I realized I needed help from my community.
Medical Financial Situation:
To date, we have spent $80,000 out of pocket on treatments, as most of mine aren’t covered by my health insurance since I’m mainly going the functional/naturopathic route.
I have an additional $20,000 in credit card medical debt from this year alone (I don’t usually have any credit card debt), and now I have an $18,900 dental diagnosis. I’m also doing ongoing treatments with my naturopathic doctor.
I’m at a point with my fiancé where we’re trying our best to keep up.
How Can You Help?
Donations will be used to help offset the cost of my medical bills, which are now at $38,900 ($20,000 from medical debt and $18,900 from the dental diagnosis.)
I’m also open to prayer and gladly receive any if you feel led. If you feel inclined, please share this with those who might want to help. I’m humbled to be in this position and grateful for any support.

Moving Forward:
My goal is to heal fully rather than masking my symptoms and living a chronic life. My purpose has shifted in the best way possible. I want to show people, including myself, that you can heal and live a healthy life. I want to teach people they can heal themselves.
Thank you for reading my story. Sending out love and light.
