Kai Gauthier
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I’m writing on behalf of my dear friends, Astree Chantal and Justin, who have just gone through something no parents should ever have to face. On August 29th, after a week of complications with her pregnancy, they lost their baby boy, Kai Gauthier, at 17 weeks. The very next day, they said goodbye and buried him with his grandmother Denise and uncle Rémi. Little Finn was so excited to become a big brother, and this loss has been devastating for them all.
Astree Chantal and Justin had planned to share the happy news that they were growing their family at the start of September, which makes this loss even more heartbreaking and unexpected for everyone.
They’ve been hit with many sudden expenses—last-minute flights for Justin to get to NB from Alberta, burial costs, a small tombstone, and lost wages from taking time off work to grieve.
Unfortunately, their health benefits lapsed just before this happened, and Justin’s new job benefits won’t start until next month. This means they don’t have the life insurance, medication, or therapy coverage that would normally help them in this kind of situation.
They’re hoping to raise $4,000, which covers just a portion of their expenses but would go a long way in helping them through this difficult time.
Here’s how your donation will help:
- Travel Costs: To cover Justin’s emergency flight home.
- Burial and Tombstone Costs: To give baby Kai a dignified resting place.
- Lost Wages: To help with unpaid time off so they can focus on healing.
- Uncovered Medical and Therapy Costs: For medications and counseling they need right now.
Astree Chantal, Justin, and Finn are going through an incredibly tough time, and any support—whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply keeping them in your thoughts—would mean so much to them.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
