Hello, my name is Yousef Shahin.
I'm the founder of Kahwa Espresso & Pastries, a family-owned coffee business built with love and community at its heart.
We’re raising funds to launch the Kahwa Espresso Cart, a mobile café serving organic, locally sourced coffee and fresh pastries to the North Shore of Massachusetts. The cart will be available for reservations and public events.
Your contribution will directly help us purchase equipment, finish building our cart, and bring this dream to life. With your support, we’ll create more than just coffee- we’ll build a strong brand that you can be part of.
Our coffee cart will allow us to:
- Serve at local events, parks, schools, and fundraisers, offices, weddings,
- Bring coffee & Pastries to areas that do not have high quality options
- Promote my brand with little debt, and low overhead expenses
Equipment required:
Synesso Espresso Machine & Eureka Grinder – $7,500
Cart Build-Out – $2,000
Refrigeration & Flojet Water System – $1,000
Predator Generator & Setup – $1,000
Initial inventory-$1,000
One time commercial kitchen membership fee & Misc expenses $1000
Our overall goal is $15,000, which will fully cover our espresso machine, cart build out, refrigeration, generator, and initial inventory.
Although with a minimum of $7,000 we can secure our espresso machine and the most important pieces of equipment to begin operations. I would explore financing options for the last bit if necessary.
The Impact
Kahwa Espresso & Pastries isn’t just about starting a business- It’s about creating a platform where I can share my passion for coffee. Through unique flavors, thoughtful balance, and specialty recipes, I want to express my creativity in every cup. Not just for myself, but for my family, my friends, and the community we all share.
By contributing, you’re not just helping me buy equipment or build a cart- you’re helping me launch Kahwa Espresso & Pastries as a mobile cart for private reservations and public events. Every dollar brings me one step closer to serving our first cup from Kahwa Espresso Cart and sharing carefully crafted coffee with the North Shore community.
This is just the first chapter. The cart is our starting point, but the dream doesn’t stop there. With your help, Kahwa Espresso & Pastries will grow into a full café- a place we can all be proud of, where every coffee and pastry tells the story of community, culture, and care.
Your support now doesn’t just launch a cart, it launches a journey.
Risks & Challenges
Like any new small business, there are challenges. Here’s how we’re preparing to overcome them:
Permits & Regulations: We’re working closely with the city to meet all licensing, zoning, and health requirements. While the process is tedious, we are in the final stages of permitting.
Equipment Costs: Prices fluctuate, but we’ve budgeted carefully and secured vendor partnerships with major retailers like Atomic Coffee Roasters and A&J King Artisan Bakers who are willing to work with us to secure equipment and our core items, Pastries & Coffee.
Startup Logistics: As a family-owned operation, we are keeping our overhead low and reinvesting directly into the business for long-term stability.
With a clear plan, strong support from family and friends, and guidance from local business advisors at the Bertolon School of Business, we’re confident in navigating these challenges.
Other Ways You Can Help
We know not everyone can contribute financially and that’s okay! You can still make a huge difference by helping us spread the word:
Share our campaign with your friends and family on social media.
Follow and share our posts on Instagram and Facebook. Every like, comment, and repost helps us reach more people.
Tell your coworkers, neighbors, and local community- word of mouth means everything for a small business like ours.
Every share brings the Kahwa Espresso Cart one step closer to becoming a reality.
Your support helps us brew this dream into reality.
Thank you.
Yousef
