Kahana Sunset Fire Aid in Memory of Bob Tu’ua
Donation protected
[Update] Thank you so much for your fine words and generous offers to help provide for my family and our wonderful extended family (our unbelievable staff). We are forever grateful and humbled by your gifts of love. Bob was a gem of a gentle giant, and will be fondly remembered and missed by many. Carol.
This fund was developed by the Kahana Sunset Board of Directors and is being managed by Cyndi Reese, Secretary of the Board of Kahana Sunset to support Kahana Sunset employees and their families who have been directly affected by the Maui fires and other personal tragedies.
Kahana Sunset AOAO Manager Carol Koepke Tu’ua had two daughters lose their homes in the Lahaina fire that started on August 8, 2023. Both Taulia Tu’ua and Marie Sambrano lived in the Wahikuli area of Lahaina where the entire neighborhood was lost. Marie’s husband, Chad, is the fire captain in Napili and oversees Kahana Sunset.
The following week, Carol lost her husband of 19 years, Bob Tu’ua, due to a prolonged illness. This GoFundMe account is dedicated to the memory of Bob.
Kahana Sunset was not impacted by the fires and the resort is fortunate to have such a wonderful and dedicated staff who are going above and beyond to keep Kahana Sunset safe and functioning.
The Board of Directors created this GoFundMe fund to donate directly to our staff and their families impacted by the fires to rebuild their lives, including the purchase of supplies, offsetting insurance costs, FEMA or other government subsidies to rebuild their home, interim housing costs, or other fire-related expenses. Under the Board’s direction, a donation will also be made to employees who have gone the extra mile to support Kahana Sunset during this difficult time.
Thank you in advance for your help and support.
